1 - What’s the point in using an accredited calibration laboratory ?
The national accreditation body (Cofrac) recognise the technical competence of the calibration laboratory in the domain « Chemistry and reference materials » and that its quality system meets all the requirements of the reference standard ISO/CEI 17025.
These pillars of accreditation are audited every 15 months in average when the internal metrology services are evaluated once in a period of 5 years.
The calibration results are free from any commercial or undue influence.
The results are traceable to national standards and are uncontroversial and shall prevail against third parties (auditors, authorities, clients).
They are accepted by the signatories of the multiparty agreement on mutual recognition : http://www.iso.org/iso/iso_ilac_iaf_communique.pdf .
The signatories are listed at : http://www.european-accreditation.org/mla-and-bla-signatories .
The instruments of the laboratory are periodically calibrated and the reference materials are systematically compared.
A qualified and authorized personnel constantly ensures a satisfactory level of performance suitable to your needs and expectations.
Within its scope of accreditation, ETALONAIR can calibrate any continuous signal gas analyzer with a digital readout and/or a formatted analog output.

Upon your request, ETALONAIR can deliver 3 kinds of report :
· A calibration certificate which indicates the corrections to make to the instrument readings.
For the AMS (Automated Measuring Systems) or related gas analyzers, the lack of fit (linearity) is determined according to standard NF EN 15267-3.
· A verification report which states on the compliance to specified criteria (manufacturer characteristics, technical specifications, standards).
The declaration of compliance is based on the calibration and test results compared with the criteria outlined in table 1 of standards in specific gases.
The expanded uncertainty must be taken into account to decide on the conformity (cf ISO 17025 §220.127.116.11).
In case of non-compliance, ETALONAIR will provide you with solutions to relieve the non-conformity where applicable.
· A test report which set results out for some individual tests.
A report under total or partial accreditation displays the Cofrac’s mark on the front page.
When the report contains no result under accreditation, the Cofrac’s mark does not appear.
The quotation always indicates the kind of report delivered.
Unless otherwise specified and when a menu provides access to an adjustment , the instrument is systematically adjusted (zero and span gas).
The calibration report mentions the indications before and after the adjustment (cf ISO 17025 §18.104.22.168).
When no adjustment menu is made available (modified password, protocol exclusively blocked par the manufacturer), the instrument is adjusted as is with your agreement.
A multi-gas instrument is often adjusted in one go when a calibration under accreditation requires one gas at the same time.
Only calibration or related actions are under accreditation and connected to the International System of Units (SI).
The results can be used to correct the readings of the instrument.
Lack of fit, gas response factor, gas conversion rate, sensitivity to interferents, oxygen influence are considered as calibration or related.
The other tests are not under accreditation : Repeatability, limits, response time, ethane rejection rate.
All results under accreditation are marked by (A).
For ethical reasons, ISO 17025 standard does not allow the laboratory to prescribe calibration intervals (cf §22.214.171.124).
It is to the user to define a frequency rule according to the instrument use.
A rough approach consist in planning calibration every year for a typical use, closer for an intensive use.
A calibration should be triggered every time a doubt arises about trueness or after a repair when a critical part is replaced in the measurement chain (catalyst gas converter, light source, optical part, light sensor, signal processing printed-circuit board) or a physical or chemical characteristic was modified (pressure, flow, temperature in measurement tank).
It is widespread agreed that intruments with no significant differences over 2 or 3 consecutive calibrations can reduce the frequency of calibrations.
The calibration report gives proof that your instrument meets the applicable standard criteria in terms of trueness and precision.
Moreover, it provides the basis for uncertainty calculation related to your own measurement results.

Depending on the requested work, from 2 to 5 working days after the receipt of the instrument in accordance with the quotation.
This period of time does not include transportation neither maintenance or repair.

- the make and model of your instrument ;
- the gas and the measuring scales to calibrate ;
- the average analysis flow ;
- the company name and contact information ;
- the expected delivery date.
The requests coming with the necessary degree of precision will receive a response within 24 hours.
The purchase order allows you to confirm the date mentioned in the last quotation.
For a first order, you will have to fill in an account creation form (Company name and location, VAT number, IBAN and BIC bank data).
The purchase order is required to include :
- the reference quotation number with its last revision (it’s no use to retype the whole quotation) ;
- the purchase order number ;
- the company name ;
- the invoicing address ;
- the delivery address or explicit mention of your managing the return transport ;
- The entity in whose name the calibration report must be issued to (the default setting is your company).
You will be allowed to cancel your order 15 calendar days before the scheduled appointment without any charge.
Never send any equipment without an agreement from ETALONAIR.
ETALONAIR must first review your application to ensure that staff skills and resources match your needs.
The quotation includes an earlier date in order to reduce downtime to a minimum.
The equipment must be effectively protected against mechanical breakages during transport or handling.
In cases of damage through [...] transport, ETALONAIR makes the usual reservations with the transporter within 24 hours.
In case an element results disconnected during transportation, ETALONAIR will ask you the authorization to intervene without charge to restore the normal functioning.
Make sure to join all necessary accessories to ease the calibration :
- power cord ;
- analog line cord (current or voltage readout) ;
- special pneumatic connections (other than 4/6mm double compression fittings) ;
- external pumps ;
- power supplies or fresh batteries ;
- data transmission cable with communication protocol ;
- calibration tools ;
- user’s manual or quick start in english ;
- data gathering sofware (networked detectors).
All lent accessories are returned by ETALONAIR.
When a software is installed for the calibration needs, it is systematically uninstalled after use and no copy is made.
For every new calibration, the sofware must be provided again.
Yes, the calibration reports may also be issued in dematerialized form provided that :
A Certification Authority (CA) and a Certification Service Provider (CSP) provide an electronic certification paid service with a longer issuing time .
An original firmed document is considered as a sufficient proof between the laboratory and its customer.
Unless an explicit agreement is made, ETALONAIR send the original signed form once work is completed.
In case of loss or destruction of this original, a free duplicate with the same probative value will be issued upon request.
No, ETALONAIR is a permanently sited laboratory.
However, if you have regular on-site needs, we will provide you with a solution.
